AI Forensic Tools Designed Around Your Case: How We Authenticate Media

Structural Analysis

Structural Analysis

We examine how a photo or video file is actually built, the containers, boxes, and markers underneath the image or footage, and compare that structure against what a genuine capture from that device or software should look like.

Metadata Forensics

Metadata Forensics

Camera make, software tags, timestamps, and encoder signatures show whether a file left a camera untouched or passed through editing software.

Error Level Analysis

Error Level Analysis

Reveals mismatched compression histories in edited regions of an image.

Clone and Splice Detection

Clone and Splice Detection

Flags copy-paste and compositing in photos and video frames.

AI Generation Models

AI Generation Models

Machine learning classifiers score images for AI generation and for deepfake faces.

Audio Forensics

Audio Forensics

Track timestamp mismatches, background hum shifts, and voice comparison expose dubbed or edited audio.

No single test proves authenticity on its own. We only report findings backed by multiple, independent methods.
Case Examples

Digital Evidence Ventures: Case Examples

Our forensic investigations combine AI technology with proven authentication methods to determine whether media has been altered. AI systems trained for pattern recognition help flag AI-generated content and deepfakes, while structural, metadata, and error-level analysis expose tampering that isn’t visible to the eye.
Fake Text

Fake Text & Email

A man staged a fake threatening text and a fake email to get his ex-girlfriend arrested. Our analysis showed the message didn’t match his phone’s actual format, and carrier records showed nothing was ever sent from her accounts.
Altered Images

Altered Images

A motorcyclist injured in a construction zone said he saw no warning signs. Photos submitted by the defense showing signage were found to be digitally altered after the fact.
Fake Voicemail

Fake Voicemail

A criminal defendant produced a fake voicemail and texts supposedly from his case detective. His own attorney got suspicious, brought us in, and we proved the evidence was fabricated.

Frequently Asked Questions

Avoid altering the device or file in any way; don’t forward, re-save, screenshot, or re-upload the content, since each of those steps can strip or overwrite the metadata we rely on. Leave the device powered on if possible and stop using the affected app. Once engaged, we handle the forensic imaging ourselves, creating a verified, unaltered copy of the device or file before any analysis begins.

At Digital Evidence Ventures, our digital forensics experts examine and preserve electronic data from computers, phones, and other devices to uncover facts that support legal or corporate matters. We handle electronic evidence carefully so it remains admissible, whether the case involves internal disputes, litigation, or incident response.

Our team includes former FBI personnel, attorneys, cyber security experts, and experienced law enforcement professionals who have worked on thousands of investigations over the past 20-plus years. We bring together hands-on investigative experience and advanced technical knowledge to deliver reliable, well-documented findings that stand up under scrutiny.

Our digital forensics services cover everything from computer and mobile analysis to cloud data collection and eDiscovery. We also perform forensic imaging to create exact copies of data sources, allowing our digital forensics professionals to analyze information without altering the original evidence.

Yes. Our digital forensics experts have testified in litigation and investigations and work closely with legal teams to present technical findings in a way that judges, juries, and opposing counsel can actually follow.

We can examine computers, laptops, servers, mobile devices, tablets, smart watches, social media, AI, and cloud platforms.

In most cases, you can’t tell by visual inspection alone, which is why forensic analysis is necessary. Our examiners apply structural analysis, metadata review, and AI detection models to identify manipulation or generation that isn’t visible to the naked eye.

Yes. Our team is experienced in extracting and analyzing digital content from major technology platforms, including preserved posts, stories, metadata, and account activity.

We don’t need access to the originating app to examine the file it produced. The file itself often carries metadata, file signatures, and encoding patterns that show how and when it was created. Where we also have access to the device, logs of app activity, downloads, or file transfers can independently corroborate that finding. Together, these often reveal how and where content was created, even when the source app itself is unavailable.

We can, yes. Our analysts are familiar with the influential and opaque algorithms behind widely used AI platforms, including image generators, video synthesis tools, and systems built on natural language processing. When cases involve chat logs or AI-generated text from platforms like ChatGPT, we apply the same rigorous methodology to assess authenticity and origin across all major technical platforms.

It can take a few days to several weeks, depending on the scope and complexity of the case. During your consultation, we’ll be able to give you an estimated timeline. Our innovative data-driven methodology allows us to work efficiently without cutting any corners.

At minimum, we’ll eventually need the digital content/device in question, along with any relevant information related to the case. Any specific information that can be helpful for your case will be requested during the consultation.
